Sharjah’s Buried Village to welcome visitors soon

It’s time to uncover the secrets of the past.

Yes, we know how much you dread that drive back and forth to Sharjah. But the emirate has truly got a lot to offer. Now, there’s yet another reason to head to this cultural capital. The legendary Buried Village in Sharjah’s Al Madam district is about to undergo a spectacular makeover and be transformed into a tourist attraction.

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has given his directive to make this incredible vision a reality. Brace yourself for an unforgettable journey because this village was lovingly preserved within the desert sands and is now preparing to welcome visitors.

Sharjah's Buried Village

Once bursting with life, this Buried Village’s decline began in 1999 when the residents were relocated to new houses provided by the government. It now peeks through the shifting sands, revealing two rows of identical houses and a mosque at the end of the road.

Abandoned, yet still brimming with allure, this relic beckons daring and curious souls searching for a thrilling journey into the past. Guided tours are already in full swing, ready to lead you through the maze of historical remnants and unlock the secrets hidden within the ‘Buried Village’. And some visitors suggest you reach the spot before sunset to grab those Insta-worthy shots.

While more details are still under wraps, it’s evident that Sharjah is serious about preserving its cultural heritage – and rightly so. The Buried Village is just the start. Elsewhere in the emirate, Al Hamriyah Beach is being set aside exclusively for the ladies. They’re also getting two ladies-only beaches in Kalba and Khor Fakkan.

The Buried Village in Al Madam has all the ingredients to captivate travellers from far and wide, making it a cultural hotspot that’s bound to put Sharjah on the map.
