Meet the headliners of the upcoming Dubai Comedy Festival

Jimmy Carr, Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams are just some of the names confirmed.

It was only weeks ago that FACT reported on the return of the annual Dubai Comedy Festival on 12 May — and here we are, revealing its headliners. While more names are expected in the weeks ahead, here’s what we know of the star-studded line-up so far.

Dara Ó Briain

Known for his quick wit and razor-sharp observations, Dara Ó Briain will bring his unique brand of comedy to Dubai Opera on Monday, 15 May. With a career spanning over two decades, the Irish comedian has become a household name in the entertainment industry, with numerous sold-out shows across the globe. In 2003, Ó Briain also became a regular host of the BBC’s satirical news quiz show Mock the Week, which quickly became one of the most popular comedy shows on British television. His ability to blend topical humour with his own personal experiences has made him a fan favourite, while his live performances have been described as a masterclass in observational comedy.

Jimmy Carr

One of the UK’s most renowned comedians, Jimmy Carr will take the stage at Dubai Opera on 16 May, bringing his trademark acerbic wit with him. Carr has not only been praised by critics for his ability to improvise, but also has a reputation as a risk-taking performer who is always willing to push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable in comedy. Known for his quick-fire one-liners and hilarious observations on modern life, Carr has become a household name in the comedy world. With numerous sold-out shows across the globe, he has cemented his place as one of the most popular comedians on the circuit today.

Joanne McNally and Vogue Williams

This hilarious comedy duo behind the award-winning podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me are also confirmed, performing at Dubai Opera on 17 May. With a style that is both relatable and irreverent, Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally’s show promises to be a night of non-stop laughs. From navigating the challenges of dating in the digital age to dealing with the pressures of social media, My Therapist Ghosted Me brings a fresh perspective to some of life’s most complicated issues. Together, Williams and McNally will give entirely unsubstantiated but honest advice on the plethora of issues they and many others continue to grapple with.

Zakir Khan

Popular Indian comedian Zakir Khan is yet another confirmed headliner, set to perform a 150-minute set in Hindi on Sunday, 14 May at Dubai Opera. Rising to prominence in 2012, when he won Comedy Central India’s Best Stand-Up Comedian competition, he has since gone from strength to strength and released three hour-long stand-up specials. Known for his anecdotal style of comedy along with his punchline “Sakht Launda”, Khan has amassed over seven million subscribers on YouTube, illustrative of his immense popularity on the Indian comedy circuit.
