Bulgari is bringing a never-seen-before exhibition to Dubai

The brand’s iconic jewellery was loved by Elizabeth Taylor.

Fashionistas, we have some stylish news. The Italian luxury fashion house Bulgari is bringing a never-seen-before exhibition to Dubai. To celebrate 75 years of Serpenti – aka the snake motif that is synonymous with the brand – it is putting on a special show. Serpenti 75 Years of Infinite Tales is running from 15 to 24 September at The Gate Building, DIFC.

Serpenti 75 Years of Infinite Tales showcases how the symbol has adorned Bulgari watches, jewellery, accessories and, of course, celebrities. The symbol aimed to seduce customers, and represents wisdom and vitality. In 1948, the Serpenti collection was first introduced as a bracelet watch in gold. In the 1950s, it became an obvious snake-like structure with a head and stones. In the 1960s, it featured in jewellery with colourful gemstones.

One of the most famous celebrities to wear Bulgari’s Serpenti design is the British actress Elizabeth Taylor. She bought a Serpenti watch in Rome while she was filming Cleopatra. Her two-time husband and fellow actor, Richard Burton, is believed to have said: “I introduced her to beer, and she introduced me to Bulgari.”

Over the years, the Serpenti design’s long, twisting emblem has transformed and slithered onto A-listers. The jewellery has been seen on the necks of celebrities ranging from Charlize Theron to Naomi Watts.

To mark the opening of Serpenti 75 Years of Infinite Tales, Bulgari released a video of the jewellery winding its way like a snake across Dubai’s most famous landmarks. The snake is seen in front of Burj Al Arab, and looping around sights from Burj Khalifa to Dubai Frame. The video has more than 29,000 likes.
