The favourite sneaker from 1999 is back, but with a new style.
One of the boldest sneaker drops of the year is here, and it’s not for the faint of heart. After more than two decades, PUMA Mostro is making a fierce comeback, and this time, it’s being reintroduced with a fresh edge for a new generation of style rebels. Originally launched in 1999, the Mostro (named after the Italian word for “monster”) earned cult status for its low-slung silhouette, distinctive spiked outsole, and sleek Velcro strap. Now, it’s back and ready to take over the streets of the Middle East.
PUMA Middle East is breathing new life into the icon through a new campaign dubbed Mostroverse, which explores the sneaker’s ethos of individuality, self-expression, and unapologetic creativity. The new collection lands in standout shades, from soft pastels like coral pink and mint green to everyday neutrals in black, white, brown, and grey. And with editions like Prime, Ecstasy, and the classic OG, sneakerheads will find plenty to obsess over.
Mostroverse also includes a lineup of streetwear essentials: tank tops, track pants, and jackets, styled to match the shoes and elevate your look. In fact, a PUMA Mostro collab with A$AP Rocky is also on the agenda. The local release still offers plenty to get excited about, with regional prices starting from AED 599.
The campaign’s launch in the Middle East is just as striking as the shoes themselves. Shot in Dubai, with a follow-up shoot planned in Riyadh, PUMA tapped into regional creatives for a visually rich, avant-garde launch led by Palestinian-Jordanian photographer Omar Sha3. The result? A cultural collage of creators who each embody the Mostro spirit.
The Mostro Squad features bold voices from across the region: Egyptian sisters Helena and Huda Shahin, who fuse fashion with wellness; Junaynah El Guthmy, a Kenyan-Yemeni stylist redefining modest fashion; Jullz from Kazakhstan, known for her futuristic visual style; Karrouhat, a Palestinian-Jordanian musician blending Arabic beats with global sounds; and Parvane Barret, a French-Iranian DJ with a high-fashion edge.
The PUMA Mostroverse collection is now available in stores and online across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
