Indian cuisine has been having a major moment in Riyadh, and now a new name is set to join the capital’s expanding culinary scene. Yatra, the Indian restaurant concept from acclaimed London chef Rohit Ghai, is coming to Riyadh, marking the chef’s debut in Saudi Arabia at The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar.
Expected to open alongside the luxury retreat in late 2026, Yatra will bring a taste of Chef Rohit Ghai’s celebrated approach to Indian cuisine to Riyadh. The Oberoi Sukoonvilas is part of the prestigious Wadi Safar development near Diriyah in Saudi Arabia, designed as an ultra-luxury desert retreat featuring private villas and a focus on understated, high-end hospitality.
Meaning “journey” in Sanskrit, Yatra Riyadh promises a culinary voyage through India’s rich and diverse food culture. Inspired by ancient spice routes, the restaurant will celebrate India’s regional cuisines through a contemporary lens, combining traditional recipes with refined techniques, bold flavours and elegant presentation.
The opening of Rohit Ghai’s Yatra in Riyadh marks a major milestone for both the chef and Saudi Arabia’s evolving restaurant scene. Rohit Ghai is recognised as one of London’s leading names in modern Indian dining, having built his reputation across the city’s MICHELIN-starred restaurant landscape before launching his own flagship concept, Kutir, in 2018. His restaurant portfolio has since grown to include concepts such as Manthan and Vatavaran, each offering a distinct perspective on Indian cuisine.
