The UAE Ruler Sheikh Mohammed loves hiking and fishing in Scotland.
As the UAE heats up for the summer, it isn’t unusual for residents to travel far and wide to escape the warm temperatures. Previous years have seen His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, travel to Scotland. And, that is also the case for this year.
Known for regularly taking trips to the UK, particularly London, His Highness has travelled to Scotland for his birthday trip this year. The Ruler of Dubai has arrived in Scotland for his birthday celebrations, with a 60-vehicle entourage. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum will celebrate at his 63,000-acre Inverinate Estate, near Kyle of Lochalsh in the Highlands, ahead of his 77th birthday on 15 July.

His Highness has often holidayed in Scotland, residing at his vast property and travelling around the natural landscapes. He has previously enjoyed activities centred around nature such as fishing trips, hiking, trekking and more. In 2023, he spent the summer in the country, enjoying the cooler temperatures of the Scottish Inner Hebrides, located off the west coast of the country’s mainland.
Sheikh Mohammed previously wrote a poem about his 2023 trip, which read: “Wandering in a sea of waves; I forget about my sitting quarters; Your closeness is a cure for the soul; And your eyes are happy about my nights.” It is not yet known which activities he will enjoy as part of his birthday celebrations, but it is sure to be a trip filled with family, nature and community.
