The world’s largest performing fountain has undergone a major renovation.
Dubai’s reputation as a global travel destination needs no introduction, and few landmarks capture that magic quite like the Dubai Fountain. Set against the glittering backdrop of Burj Khalifa, this world-famous spectacle has been captivating visitors since 2009 with its gravity-defying choreography and soundtrack of international hits.
Stretching across the lake, the installation uses thousands of lights and colour projectors to paint the water, with arcs that can soar to skyscraper heights. Crowds line the promenade for free nightly shows, while closer views are available from the Boardwalk or by boat on the lake. But on Saturday, 19 April 2025, the dancing waters were temporarily paused.

When will the Dubai Fountain reopen?
After a five-month hiatus, the world’s largest choreographed fountain will welcome visitors back with its signature display of water, light and music, just in time for the cooler season.
A recent Instagram post from Emaar announced that the attraction will resume operations on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, with two afternoon performances daily at 1pm and 1:30pm, and on Fridays at 2pm and 2:30pm. Evening shows run every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm.
Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar, said: “The return of Dubai Fountain is a celebration of Dubai itself – its spirit, its energy, and its ability to inspire the world. This landmark has always brought people together, creating shared moments of wonder and joy. When the fountain reopens, it will remind us once again of what Dubai represents: innovation, ambition, and the creation of experiences that leave a lasting impression on everyone who visits.”
What to expect from the upgrade?
Emaar has confirmed that Phase Two will be completed in Q2 2026, introducing new features that blend creativity and technology to elevate the experience and deliver fresh moments of wonder.
Staged on Burj Lake, the performances will send jets of up to 22,000 gallons soaring as high as 140 metres, perfectly choreographed to lights and music. The planned renovations promise enhanced sound, sharper lighting, and even more dazzling water displays. Robotic systems will choreograph the water and lighting, delivering a sharper, more immersive show. And of course, the beautiful Burj Khalifa light shows continue to illuminate the skyline.

Over the years, the world’s tallest performing fountain has been attracting thousands of visitors daily, wowing them with brilliant water displays synced to music tunes. Whether it’s a classic Arabic song, a Bollywood party anthem, Titanic’s iconic score by Celine Dion, or “Baby Shark,” the Dubai Fountain has consistently delivered an unforgettable show. When it returns, expect an even bigger, brighter comeback.
