Orfali Bros to host a ten-course culinary collab

The bistro will join forces with Bogotá’s El Chato on 18 October.

If the lists curated by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants are your holy grail, then 18 October is a date you’ll want to mark. For one night only, Dubai’s Orfali Bros. Bistro and Bogotá’s El Chato will join forces for a special ten-course menu of innovative dishes prepared by Chef Mohamad Orfali and Chef Álvaro Clavijo at the bistro based in Wasl 51, Jumeirah. Diners can book their seat at this unique dining event for AED 600 per person (food only) with two seatings – 6:30pm and 9pm – available.

Incidentally, both restaurants are acclaimed by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. El Chato is a casual, bustling two-story establishment with a Quentin Tarantino feel, located in the heart of Bogotá. There, classic Colombian ingredients are taken for a spin by elevating seemingly simple dishes to the next level, thereby making it one of only two restaurants in the Colombian capital to be included in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants extended list – it ranks #83.

Orfali Bros

Chef Álvaro Clavijo is the brains behind El Chato, and he has made it his mission to redefine local flavours by exploring his country and the endless list of produce it can offer. His resume boasts names such as Noma, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, Atera and Per Se – and it all started with his role as a dishwasher in Paris. Clavijo’s infinite curiosity drives him to go against the norm, resulting in dishes that reeducate the local palate, put flavour first, and are created to highlight the ingredient.

Orfali Bros. Bistro, meanwhile, has quickly developed a cult following since its opening in March 2021. “Taste, texture, ingredients – those are the three things we stand by,” says Mohamad Orfali. “We offer a collection of the experience, skills and vision of every person behind the kitchen door. For us, rules are meant to be bent and broken, with respect to our tradition. We’re constantly pushing the boundaries of cooking to discover new flavours and sensations in our food and pastries.”

Orfali Bros

Along with his brothers Wassim and Omar, the brothers take inspiration from their travels and work with local farmers and suppliers to serve local ingredients of the highest quality in their contemporary dishes. Orfali Bros. was recently voted #87 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 51-100 list and #6 on the Middle East and North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
