What to expect from legendary Lebanese Bachir Ice Cream in Dubai

Flavours, fans and a family business – here’s the scoop about the iconic dessert.

When an ice cream brand is more than 86 years old, it must be doing something right. The legendary Lebanese Bachir Ice Cream has announced that they are expanding into the UAE, bringing their much-loved desserts to Dubai.

Bachir Ice Cream started in 1936 as a family business in the small Lebanese town of Bikfaya. Founded by the brothers Marice and Edward Bachir, the pair began making ice cream in their garden, roping in their sisters to help. The brand prides itself on being one hundred per cent organic and for having an exciting range of ice cream flavours. Today, it has outlets across Lebanon and the nation has a soft spot for this soft serve.

When Bachir Ice Cream recently opened in Paris, France, it attracted the kind of crowds usually reserved for celebrities – there were queues around the block and Insta-posts aplenty. So, we’re expecting Bachir Ice Cream in Dubai to attract loyal Lebanese expats and new fans along the way.

If you want to know what the dessert fuss is about and get a taste of this iconic brand, we’d recommend starting with its signature flavour: the cornet achta with whipped ice cream and crushed pistachio nuts. The other ice cream flavours include chocolate, pistachio and rose, and there are sugar-free options.

If you can’t make up your mind, you are encouraged to pile your cone high with different flavours. Plus, the ice cream is served in cones, tubs and cups, and the latter comes in a generous helping that is like a cross between a milkshake and ice cream tub.

While there is limited information about Bachir Ice Cream in Dubai, rumour has it, that a new date flavour will be introduced for the market. Bachir Ice Cream has not yet announced its Dubai location, but we will keep you up to date with the inside scoop.
