Dubai Mall Chinatown is your one-stop shop for all things Chinese

The new project will be packed with Chinese restaurants and retail.

The next time you’re craving Chinese food, make a beeline for Dubai’s new Chinatown. The Emaar-backed project was initially set to open in Dubai Creek Harbour, but is now coming to The Dubai Mall.  

There are Chinatowns across the world from San Francisco to London, which are typically home to a Chinese diaspora. The areas serve as a hub for homes, shops and residents. Dubai’s version of Chinatown, however, will be a little different. The area will be created in true UAE-style, as it is located in the world’s largest shopping centre, The Dubai Mall, and aims to be the largest Chinatown in the region.

The Dubai Mall attraction is currently under construction. When completed, Dubai Mall Chinatown will be located on the mall’s ground floor near Address Fountain Views. The project includes a conversion of multiple levels, as the existing car park will be transformed into a double-height retail space. 

There are currently hints of developments – lookout for the sign stating Dubai Mall Chinatown in English and Mandarin. Plus, there is Chinese-inspired architecture, from red-fronted doors to traditional curved roofs. So far, so zen. 

When Dragon Mart doesn’t suffice, put this on your radar. Dubai Mall Chinatown is expected to be filled with high-end Chinese restaurants and bars, plus Chinese-inspired shops covering bakeries to beauty.
