NUMAJ, Autograph Collection

The 250-room property is being developed by AlUla Development Company and will be operated by Marriott International, with a planned opening in 2027. Its name references the Nu Ursae Majoris star system, giving the project a celestial thread that connects with the region’s travelling traditions. The design also targets LEED Gold certification. Sharaan by Jean Nouvel

Carved into sandstone, Sharaan by Jean Nouvel approaches desert hospitality through the architecture of the mountain itself. The French architect behind Louvre Abu Dhabi has drawn inspiration from the Nabataeans, whose rock-cut monuments remain central to AlUla’s identity. Updated plans outline 38 suites, alongside wellness facilities and dining, within the landscape of Sharaan Nature Reserve. Openings and carefully directed daylight are integral to the design, allowing the rock to become part of the interiors. With its opening date still to be confirmed, this ambitious project is as much an architectural talking point as a future hotel.

That combination gives the project an appeal beyond a conventional spa escape, connecting relaxation with the surrounding environment and cultural activity. Announced for 2027, the resort is one to watch for travellers who like to make wellbeing central to their holidays.
