The landmark lifestyle district will bring Apple, VOX Cinemas, luxury hotels, restaurants, retail, culture and Najdi design to the heart of historic Diriyah.

Diriyah is one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious cultural destinations. The historic district, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, is already home to Bujairi Terrace and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif. Now, attention is turning to Diriyah Square, the flagship lifestyle, retail and dining precinct at the heart of The City of Earth.

Backed by the Public Investment Fund, Diriyah Company is transforming the area into a 14-square-kilometre destination rooted in Saudi heritage. The masterplan brings together hotels, homes, offices, museums, restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and public spaces, all designed around traditional Najdi architecture.

    Diriyah Square

Diriyah Square is one of the centrepieces of the wider project. The open-air district will feature more than 400 retail, leisure and dining brands, with pedestrian streets, shaded walkways and public spaces linking visitors to Diriyah’s cultural landmarks. The area will sit above an underground car park with more than 10,500 spaces, making it one of the largest of its kind in the world.

Apple has signed a lease to open a flagship store in Diriyah Square, marking one of the most significant retail announcements for the destination. Majid Al Futtaim will also bring a VOX Cinemas multiplex to the district, alongside seven lifestyle brands. These include Lululemon, Crate & Barrel, Abercrombie & Fitch, AllSaints, CB2, Hollister and the first standalone Shiseido store in Saudi Arabia.

More names have since joined the line-up. adidas, Spinneys, Seven Luxury Wellness, OliOli, Al Dawaa Pharmacy, Alo Yoga, On Running and Fakeeh Clinic have all been confirmed for Diriyah Square. Together, the announcements point to a district that aims to balance luxury shopping with wellness, family entertainment, fitness, daily services, and dining.

Hospitality is also a major part of the plan. Diriyah Company has broken ground on seven luxury hotels, including Raffles Diriyah, Armani Diriyah, Orient Express Diriyah, Baccarat Diriyah, Corinthia Diriyah, Fauchon L’Hotel Diriyah and Rosewood Diriyah. The wider Diriyah and Wadi Safar masterplans will feature nearly 40 luxury hotels and resorts, with Four Seasons Hotel Diriyah and Four Seasons Private Residences also confirmed through a major joint development agreement.

    Diriyah Square

Diriyah’s cultural ambitions continue to grow. The wider masterplan includes the 20,000-seat Diriyah Arena, the Royal Diriyah Opera House, museums, a university, the Royal Diriyah Golf Club, and the Royal Equestrian and Polo Club. In April 2026, a major construction contract was also awarded for the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art in Diriyah, adding another significant cultural anchor to the destination.

The surrounding area is already building momentum. Bujairi Terrace has become one of Riyadh’s most popular dining destinations, with restaurants overlooking At-Turaif. Dolce&Gabbana has also opened a large boutique and DG Caffè at Bujairi Terrace, further strengthening Diriyah’s luxury credentials.
