A new route brings the Red Sea’s luxury resorts and wild landscapes within easier reach.

Qatar Airways has confirmed a new service to the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, adding a high-profile destination to its expanding network. From 21 October, the carrier will begin operating direct flights between Doha and Red Sea International Airport, marking its 12th destination in the Kingdom. The move streamlines access to one of the Middle East’s most exciting new getaways, where pristine islands, cinematic deserts and coral reefs meet a growing line-up of luxury resorts.

The inaugural flight, QR-1226, is scheduled to depart Hamad International Airport at 9:15am and arrive at Red Sea International Airport at 12:15pm. The return leg, QR-1227, leaves at 2:15pm and lands in Doha at 4:45pm. Following the launch, Qatar Airways will operate three flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with slight variations in timings across the schedule. The frequency is well-suited to long weekends and curated itineraries, opening the door to both swift escapes and extended stays.

On arrival, travellers will step into a destination designed around space, sustainability and seclusion. The Red Sea is home to headline resorts including Desert Rock Resort, Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Six Senses Southern Dunes, Shebara and The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, with further openings on the horizon. Each brings a distinct sense of place, from sand-swept architecture to overwater villas, while the environment remains the leading attraction. Think 90 islands scattered like pearls across the coastline, sweeping dunes, carved canyons and one of the largest barrier reef systems on the planet. Diving, snorkelling, stargazing and nature-led excursions set the pace, while spa rituals and destination dining complete the experience.

Even the arrival point is part of the narrative. Red Sea International Airport draws inspiration from the desert landscape, delivering a calm, contemporary welcome that mirrors the destination’s low-impact ethos. With Qatar Airways now connecting Doha to the Saudi coastline, international travellers will find it simpler than ever to reach a region that has quickly become one of the Middle East’s most talked-about luxury escapes.
