Spa Review: Iridium Spa at The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm

A stylish setting for sublime serenity.

It’s not every day that a spa looks to a glamorous dine-and-dance spot from the 1930s for inspiration, but to that, we say, “Why not?” Iridium Spa is designed for indulgence and defined by joie de vivre, paying homage to the world of spectacle at the vibrant Iridium Room at The St. Regis New York. Now, The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm is home to the second Iridium Spa in the UAE, boasting six treatment suites and respective ladies’ and gentlemen’s relaxation areas, along with spa facilities including a sauna and a steam room. From lush surrounds to precious ingredients prized for their healing benefits, every aspect of the spa sanctuary is custom created to captivate the heightened senses and committed to delivering pure decadence.

Pre-treatment formalities and consultation forms are completed on low-slung couches where spa-goers are engulfed in a soundtrack of ambient percussion and the infectious smile of the expert therapists. Led down a beautifully illuminated corridor to the changing rooms, expect to be enamoured by the sense of exclusivity and intimacy that Iridium Spa promotes. The changing rooms are charming with art deco interiors, striking light fittings, plenty of mirrors and discrete attention to detail that is almost unheard of in Dubai.

Comfortable in a pair of plush slippers and a super soft bathrobe, the impressive range of treatments have been purposefully designed to target the mind, body and soul. The Iridium Spa menu features an exceptional range of treatment options, complete with specialised experiences that incorporate leading wellness brands, such as AMRA Skincare. With innovation at its core, each treatment is designed specifically for modern-day skincare concerns and leverages the power of scents and aromas.

The spa menu is split into four sections along with an array of enhancements and finishing touches: Massage (offering curated and bespoke experiences with a choice of three sensory escapes), Body Treatment (marrying classic body treatments with elegant innovation), Facial (offering high-precision and clinically proven facial treatments suitable for both men and women), and Journey (a collection of elegant treatments devised to focus on relaxation).

We, however, are visiting for a signature treatment. Using AMRA Iridium Hot Stones and The St. Regis Signature Body Oil, the ‘Serenity’ treatment has been designed to ignite the senses and instil a deep sense of relaxation by hydrating the skin and nourishing both mind and body. Available for either 60 (AED 650) or 90 minutes (AED 870), the treatment uses warm Iridium stones to work deep into the muscles and reduce areas of tension. The warmth emanating from the stones and their weight help relax muscles and alleviate stress and tension. Post-treatment, we can feel our body radiating heat, while the benefits are admirable – the reduction of stress, anxiety, back pain, depression and even insomnia. The result for us, however, is sparkling vitality with the bonus of intensely hydrated skin.

After so much pampering, don’t rush out. You’ll want to chill in the small but inviting relaxation area with dates, nuts and freshly brewed tea to help your body replenish. Iridium offers a genuinely mind-blowing spa where you’ll want to linger a little longer before heading out into the real world again.

The St. Regis brand is known for its unrivalled luxury and while Iridium Spa may be small in stature, it delivers above on beyond when it comes to wellness.
