A new brunch will soon debut at Maté

Partner Content: Looking to Argentina’s rich heritage for culinary inspiration, Asado Libre will take place every Saturday.

Not all fusion concepts are created equal, but in only one year, Maté has managed to win over Abu Dhabi residents thanks to its unique offering: Argentinian cuisine with a contemporary Lebanese twist. A first in the capital, the restaurant at Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas was inspired by maté, a storied beverage that has been consumed in South America since before the arrival of Europeans.

Rich in caffeine and culturally significant in terms of national identity as well as social terms, the drink is served in a container typically made from a calabash gourd and passed around as conversation flows, evoking a sense of community. Incidentally, the Lebanese (who moved to South America during the late 19th and early 20th century) not only embraced the drink, but also brought it back home with them upon their return. And on the horizon is the perfect opportunity to discover Maté’s fascinating backstory firsthand as the limited-edition Asado Libre brunch launches on Saturday, 17 June.

Taking place from 1pm to 4pm every Saturday, the gastronomic journey promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with delectable delicacies and live entertainment. And because the restaurant’s eclectic interior design translates into an unpretentious environment, it makes for the ideal setting for a laidback weekend. Diners are invited to immerse into the diverse world of Argentine cuisine as Maté restaurant showcases a sensational menu curated by Chef Julian Harguindey.

Drawing inspiration from Argentina’s rich heritage, Asado Libre will present an array of dishes designed to transport brunchgoers to the charming streets of Villa de Merlo. From sizzling grilled meats to empanadas and a variety of traditional sides, each plate is a celebration of the South American country’s unique culinary traditions. The brunch will also feature a live performance by a Latin singer to truly set the mood.
