Celebrity Chef Izu opens Japanese restaurant Kai Enzo

Partner Content: The new concept combines Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine.

Celebrity Chef Izu Ani is back with another exciting restaurant. Kai Enzo has opened in Hyatt Centric Jumeriah in La Mer, Dubai. The concept combines Eastern flavours with Western influences and aims to create an elevated dining experience.

The name Kai means ocean or shell in Japanese, highlighting the restaurant’s seaside location and tranquil vibes. Enzo means king or owner and represents how the ingredients are in charge. Plus, it also has a sentimental meaning, as Kai Enzo is the name of Chef Izu’s own son.

Kai Enzo

Kai Enzo boasts panoramic views of the Dubai skyline and Arabian Gulf. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating, an interactive sushi bar and an outdoor terrace which will open following the hot summer months.

Kai Enzo’s menu draws upon two regions’ culinary traditions. The dishes combine Chef Izu’s love of Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on creating high-quality, fresh dishes. The dishes include Green Bean Salad with Black Goma and Wasabi Peas, Tiger Prawns with Kimuchi Butter and Shisho Pesto, and Hokkaido Scallops in Green Apple Ponzu and Salsa Verde. Plus, there is a wide range of sushi, sashimi and charcoal grills.

The beverage menu is divided into two sections: Taiyo symbolises the sun, and Kai symbolises the sea and the Mediterranean. Each section incorporates ingredients from the respective region. Taiyo’s drinks range from sake to matcha, and Kai’s drinks are a refreshing blend of citrus, herbs and oils.

Chef Izu Ani explained: “This project holds a special place in my heart as it unites two cultures that I deeply cherish. I wanted to create a concept that brings together the essence of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisines and that showcases their similarities and unique flavours.

“For me, food and cooking are all about storytelling. We don’t need to complicate things; we just need the confidence to let the food and flavours speak for themselves. I want people to come to Kai Enzo and fall in love with the whole experience in their own unique way so they can create their own Kai Enzo story.”

Kai Enzo is open for dinner seven days a week.
