Catch Shrek The Musical in Dubai and Dhahran

The fun-filled show is coming to Saudi Arabia and the UAE in 2023.

“Ogres are like onions, they have layers”. If you know where that line is from – it’s the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek – then you’ll be excited to hear that Shrek The Musical is coming to the Middle East. The show runs from 11 to 28 January 2023 in Ithra in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and runs from 21 to 26 February 2023 at Dubai Opera in Dubai, UAE.  

Shrek The Musical is based on the Oscar-winning film Shrek, which starred Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, Eddie Murphy as Donkey and John Lithgow as Lord Farquadd. This family-friendly film is famous for subverting traditional fairy tales. The story follows an unassuming ogre rather than a handsome prince, as he goes on an adventure to rescue a feisty princess and win back the deed to his swamp.

Shrek The Musical, presented by Broadway Entertainment Group and Live Nation, brings the story to life on stage. Viewers can expect a song and dance – not just tracks from the original soundtrack, but also an additional 19 additional tunes. Expect to see the much-loved characters, from the singing Donkey (“got to try a little tenderness”) to the cute Gingerbread Man (“not my gumdrop buttons”). Plus, there will be creative choreography and stunning set pieces.

Shrek The Musical launched on Broadway, New York in 2008. Since then, it has garnered eight Tony Award nominations and been travelled across the world. The show has been performed on stages including China, France, Singapore, UK and now the Middle East. Join the fun.
