Alserkal Art Month Brings Dubai’s Creative Scene to Life

Dubai’s cultural landscape never stands still, and Alserkal Avenue remains one of the city’s most compelling creative destinations. This spring, the arts district is deepening that reputation with the return of Alserkal Art Month, a city-wide style programme of exhibitions, performances, talks and community-led experiences that invite audiences to engage with art in more meaningful ways.

Taking place from 18 April to 18 May 2026, Alserkal Art Month unfolds over five weekends, offering visitors the chance to explore the programme at their own pace. The month begins with previews of contemporary gallery exhibitions and builds towards a finale that coincides with Art Dubai, when a series of special commissions will be revealed.

An evolution of Alserkal Avenue’s established Art Week format, this longer programme creates more room for exchange, reflection and participation. It brings together artists, curators, cultural practitioners and wider creative communities from the UAE and beyond, reinforcing the district’s role as a platform for dialogue as much as display.

This year’s programme is inspired by Still A Sky We Hold, a reimagining of Shilpa Gupta’s work that sets the tone for the month ahead. From there, the calendar branches into a broad mix of artistic activity, including new gallery exhibitions, public installations, workshops, performances and talks designed to make contemporary art feel both relevant and accessible.

One of the central highlights is Deja Vu, a group exhibition featuring artists from 18 galleries across the UAE. Exploring themes of repetition, memory and familiarity, the show is accompanied by the Majlis Talks, which aim to encourage open conversations around artistic practice, ideas and the cultural issues shaping the region.

Elsewhere, the Alserkal Arts Foundation will present reading groups, open studios and live performances, giving visitors the opportunity to connect more directly with artists and their processes. Research grants will also form part of the initiative, supporting the development of new creative work, while a roundtable discussion will examine how art institutions and practitioners can build stronger ties with their communities.

The final week introduces Moving, a programme of film and video screenings presented in partnership with Art Dubai. Events will take place both at Alserkal Avenue and Madinat Jumeirah, extending the month’s reach beyond Al Quoz and into the wider city.

For seasoned collectors, casual gallery-goers, and anyone simply looking to experience Dubai’s creative momentum, Alserkal Art Month offers a thoughtful and wide-ranging way to do exactly that.
