The new restaurant joins the group’s ever-growing list of concepts.
If you’ve lived in the UAE, chances are you’ve crossed paths with a tashas restaurant. Backed by the Tashas Group, the brand has become a favourite across the region, with FACT award-winning concepts such as Flamingo Room setting the tone for stylish dining. And now, the group is bringing yet another of its concepts from South Africa to Dubai, called Cafe Sofi.
Cafe Sofi was launched in 2025 in South Africa and is a personal culinary venture by restaurateur Natasha Sideris. The concept is inspired by her mother, Sophia Electra. Her recipes transformed ordinary ingredients into hearty dishes featuring English and Greek flavours.
While details on the Dubai outpost remain under wraps, the concept is expected to stay true to its South African roots. The food is described as an “intimate indulgence,” featuring a mix of salads, cakes, and classic plates. Expect options like fried eggs and avocado on toast for breakfast, and move on to beef burgers, The Dog, pastas, and more for mains. And for desserts, you can expect to dive into tiramisu with salted caramel, pineapple heaven cake, honey cake and much more.

While the Dubai location currently remains a mystery, the concept’s ethos suggests an elegant yet relaxed cafe experience. Set to open sometime this year, Cafe Sofi is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing new restaurant launches in Dubai, and even more so for those who have followed tashas’ evolution over the years. So if the South African original is anything to go by, Cafe Sofi is expected to be a hit in the UAE.
Cafe Sofi joins a list of Tashas Group’s upcoming openings in the region. With more tashas branches across the UAE, this new concept is guaranteed to wow diners as well.
