Cats The Musical will open in spring 2026.
Cats The Musical will debut in Abu Dhabi from 14 to 24 May 2026 at Etihad Arena, Yas Island. One of the biggest shows in theatre history, the musical arrives in collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism and Miral, the pioneering creator of the emirate’s immersive experiences.
The show will feature the magical score composed by the iconic Andrew Lloyd Webber. He is behind The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Starlight Express. The show includes the classic and emotional song Memory. Paired with a magnificent set, beautifully designed costumes and electric choreography, Cats promises not to disappoint.
The debut of Cats in Abu Dhabi is sure to appeal to locals and tourists alike. Its arrival marks an important step in the show’s global expansion. Plus, it reflects the emirate’s ongoing commitment to arts and culture.
Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the original London production opened in 1981 at the New London Theatre, before transferring to Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre in 1982. Since its world premiere, CATS has travelled to over 30 countries, been translated into 15 languages, and has been seen by more than 73 million people worldwide.
