After winning over diners at Marsa Boulevard, Lost in Tokyo is preparing to open a permanent restaurant at First Avenue Mall.
Dubai is no stranger to new restaurant openings, but every so often, a concept arrives that feels more distinctive than the rest. Lost in Tokyo is one of those rare names. After earning a devoted following through its sought-after run at Marsa Boulevard, the homegrown concept is now preparing to take its next step with a permanent address at the soon-to-open First Avenue Mall in Jumeirah.
What began as an intimate, invite-only supper club gradually grew into one of the city’s most talked-about pop-ups. That sense of exclusivity, paired with a clear point of view, helped Lost in Tokyo stand out in a crowded dining scene. Now, with its first fixed location on the horizon, the concept is moving from cult favourite to fully fledged restaurant.
The new space has been designed to reflect the quiet confidence that has defined the brand from the beginning. Guests will enter through traditional Japanese-style curtains, setting the tone before they even step inside. A small garden at the entrance adds a serene touch, while the interiors lean into understatement rather than excess. Expect light wood finishes, muted tones and soft lighting that create an atmosphere that feels warm, calm and carefully considered.
At the heart of the experience is Edomae-style sushi, a traditional Tokyo approach that values precision, restraint and the quality of each ingredient. Rather than relying on elaborate presentation or heavily dressed rolls, the menu is expected to focus on craftsmanship and balance. It is a dining style that puts technique first, which is exactly what has helped Lost in Tokyo build its reputation.

The format will remain personal and immersive. Diners can expect to sit at the counter while a team of four chefs prepares each course in front of them, preserving the direct connection between chef and guest that has long been central to the concept. Drinks are also likely to follow the same thoughtful approach, with Japanese teas and sake pairings complementing the menu.
Lost in Tokyo’s journey has been a measured one, built through consistency rather than hype. Its move into a permanent home feels like a natural evolution for one of Dubai’s most compelling Japanese dining concepts, and easily one of the city’s most anticipated openings.
