Summer Collective: Wavering Hope comes to Alserkal Avenue.
Alserkal Avenue is home to amazing art exhibitions. Now, it is welcoming Syrian artists at the Summer Collective: Wavering Hope. Running from 18 June to 5 September 2025, it explores the idea of hope in the country and ties in with the 20th anniversary of the Ayyam Gallery.
Following two decades of conflict, displacement, and resistance, Syrian artists have come together to create the exhibition “Summer Collective: Wavering Hope.” Some artists found themselves in exile, and others remained in the country’s cities and towns.

All the Syrian artists in the exhibition have an impulse to document their experiences, particularly the fall of the Assad regime. Many of the artists explore the tension between before and after the war, portraying a homeland that shifts between destruction and renewal, and mourning and hope. As a result, the exhibition reminds us that hope is rarely straightforward.
The artists include Abdalla Al Omari, Abdul-Karim Majdal Al-Beik, Elias Izoli, Kais Salman, Khaled Takreti, Mohannad Orabi, Nihad Al-Turk, Othman Moussa, Safwan Dahoul, Tammam Azzam, Thaier Helal, and Yasmine Al Awa.

The pieces at the Ayyam Gallery exhibition explore the emotional, political, and cultural aftermath of conflict. Elias Izoli’s paintings evoke kidnappings and torture. Thaier Helal transforms canvases into vessels of visual resistance and political commentary. Abdul-Karim Majdal Al-Beik uses unconventional media to explore anguish and displacement. Othman Moussa uses satire to confront political realities and cultural absurdities. Abdalla Al Omari’s work is deeply rooted in the Syrian conflict and draws on his own experiences of displacement.
