Here’s how to explore Sharjah museums for free this week

You can access these historic sites without spending a single dirham until 3 March.

If you’re looking for a fascinating journey through Emirati culture and heritage, you’ll have to make your way to Sharjah. Entry to the Emirates’ museums is free until Sunday, 3 March — which means you won’t have to spend a single dirham.

The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is behind this initiative and it’s playing a vital role in the 21st edition of Sharjah Heritage Days. With a firm belief that museums are invaluable educational resources, SMA aims to inspire visitors of all ages to connect with their heritage and learn from the past while making cultural education accessible and engaging for all.

Sharjah Heritage Days, held annually, celebrates the diverse heritage and culture of the region. Themed Connect, this year’s event will feature Bait Al Naboodah, Hisn Khorfakkan, Sharjah Calligraphy Museum and Sharjah Fort. Visitors can immerse themselves in the history and traditions at these venues and access them free of charge.

But that’s not all – SMA is also introducing the innovative Museums Express — a mobile bus museum initiative that will take visitors on a journey through various Sharjah Museums. Operating on select dates in the city, this experience promises to be both educational and entertaining.

SMA is also hosting a range of engaging workshops designed to deepen visitors’ understanding of Emirati heritage. Whether you’re crafting replica towers at Sharjah Fort or painting traditional designs at Bait Al Naboodah, these hands-on experiences offer a fun and interactive way to learn about the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.

Whether you’re a history buff or simply curious about the UAE, this experience is a must-try.
