Mustafa The Poet has announced that he is releasing his first poetry book, Nour: A Poetry Publication on Ceremony. The anthology draws from his own personal experiences and his Islamic faith. The book is out now and can be downloaded for free through WeTransfer.

Mustafa The Poet often covers themes of religion and ritual in his work. The cover photo for Nour: A Poetry Publication on Ceremony shows him on a pilgrimage to Mecca. The image was taken by his friend and collaborator, Yasin Osman.
Mustafa The Poet explained: “I want to thank all the poets for believing in me, the new ones and the ones who built new languages for us. Worship began as a stranger, and it later became the only call worthy of this breath in my body. All the contributors I’m indebted to forever.
“Warsan Shire, who helped me see the world in colour as a child. George Saunders, you gave me a new ink to write with and it never runs out. I am so moved by your trust in me. My artists, I’m transformed by your words and your eyes. Deep thanks to Daniel Kaluuya who has always been a giant to me and for leading the conversation on faith today. These are the poets, these are the doorways”.
Mustafa the Poet, is a Canadian-Sudanese artist. As a poet, Mustafa first gained attention for his raw reflections on inner-city life and loss, themes he carried into his music with the release of his critically acclaimed EP When Smoke Rises. Blending acoustic melodies with soul, folk, and R&B influences, his sound is hauntingly tender and his lyrics are steeped in vulnerability, memory, and the complexities of grief and survival.
Mustafa’s most recent album Dunya, released in September 2024, blends delicate folk melodies with ambient and orchestral elements. Standout tracks include “Gaza Is Calling” and “Leaving Toronto” , while the album’s title, an Arabic word for “the world”, grounds the project in a spiritual and philosophical context.
