Fresh from a major Venice run, Kaouther Ben Hania’s docu-drama arrives at Cinema Akil for its UAE debut.

Cinema Akil is bringing one of the year’s most talked-about titles to Dubai, with The Voice of Hind Rajab set for its first public screening in the UAE on Wednesday, 17 December 2025. The premiere takes place at Cinema Akil in Alserkal Avenue, and will include a Q&A session, making it a must for audiences who like their cinema with context and conversation.

Directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, the film blends documentary urgency with dramatised reconstruction to revisit the final hours of Hind Rajab, a young girl trapped in a car under fire in Gaza as rescuers race to reach her. The project draws power from the event’s recorded calls, turning a real voice into the spine of the story, and a stark reminder of what gets lost in headlines.

If you missed it on the festival circuit, this is the moment to catch up. The Voice of Hind Rajab screened in competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, where it went on to win the Silver Lion, and drew a standing ovation reported at more than 20 minutes.

After the premiere, Cinema Akil will run daily screenings from 18 to 28 December 2025 across both venues, Alserkal Avenue and the outpost at 25hours Hotel One Central, giving Dubai’s arthouse crowd multiple chances to see it.

Beyond the programme itself, the release feels aligned with Cinema Akil’s wider mission. Launched in 2014 as a nomadic cinema, the platform has staged 60-plus pop-ups and welcomed more than 65,000 attendees across the UAE, building a community around films that do not always find space elsewhere.
