Dubai has welcomed local and international artists. Now, the immersive art experience NOWADEUS is making its debut in Dubai, UAE. Step into a surreal world that explores the icons of modern life. Running from 2 October to 7 November, the event will take place at kanvas Dubai in Al Quoz, and admission is free.
The New Zealand artist Tim Christie is the creative force behind NOWADEUS. Having already wowed audiences in New Zealand, and the experience is now set for its Middle Eastern premiere in Dubai.
NOWADEUS showcases seven icons of today, brought to life through bold visual storytelling. The experience is cinematic in style, blending the playful with the provocative. Its central question: what truly holds sway over us today? The name refers to the phrase nowadays, but has been reworked for the exhibition.
The Grid animated Tim’s larger-than-life characters, combining striking visuals with a layered narrative. Tom McLeod composed the original score, while Mike Hodgson crafted the immersive sound design, further elevating the experience.
Tim Christie creates multidisciplinary art that strikingly uses colour, form, and digital design.With a background in graphic design and visual communication, he blends fine art with cutting-edge technology. He is on a mission to explore contemporary themes in fresh, thought-provoking ways. He often includes bold, graphic, and rich symbols in his work, and galleries around the world have exhibited it.
