A Bollywood living legend will perform in Dubai this September

Asha Bhosle will take to the Coca-Cola Arena stage on her 90th birthday on 8 September.

The good news for Bollywood fans continues. Earlier today, we revealed details about Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming performance at Coca-Cola Arena on 1 September. And we now know that the arena will host an even bigger name exactly one week later: Asha Bhosle.

While the living legend needs no introduction, here’s a brief one. One of the greatest playback singers in Bollywood history, Bhosle has recorded over 10,000 songs for over 800 movies. Like her sister, the legendary Lata Mangeshkar, she was trained by her father in classical music. Having said that, she is renowned for her soprano voice range and often credited for her versatility — classical music aside, her work spans film music, folk songs, pop, ghazalsbhajans and qawwalis.

Coca-Cola Arena is gearing up to celebrate Bhosle’s 90th birthday on 8 September, with the singer performing her chart-topping songs over an impressive eight-decade career as part of the festivities. An array of incredible dance troupes and choreographers along with talented singers and musicians will also be featured. Several well-known celebrities are expected to be in attendance to pay respect and show gratitude to the star of the night.

One of the city’s most awaited concerts, this mega event is the brainchild of Anand Bhosle (son of Anand Bhosle) and Salman Ahmed (CEO and Founder of PME Entertainment). “This isn’t just another event or concert for me or PME; rather, it feels as if we have been rewarded with a blockbuster show for conceptualising and producing some of the best concerts in UAE and around the world,” says Ahmed. “In collaboration with Anand Bhosle, we are creating a musical extravaganza for the Bollywood queen like Dubai has never seen before.” Tickets start at AED 90 and are available now.
