The Iranian-American comedian brings his global tour to Downtown Dubai on 22 December 2026.
Dubai’s comedy calendar is getting another big name this December. Max Amini is heading to Dubai Opera on Tuesday, 22 December 2026, with two performances at 6.30pm and 10pm. Part of his global tour, the English-language shows will bring his mix of storytelling and audience interaction to Downtown Dubai just before Christmas.
If you have encountered his quick-fire exchanges on Instagram or YouTube, his approach will be familiar. Amini draws on family life, cultural differences and everyday situations, finding humour in experiences that resonate across borders.
Born in Tucson, Arizona, to Iranian parents, Amini began performing stand-up in 2002 while studying at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. He graduated in 2004 and developed his act on the Los Angeles comedy circuit, becoming a resident comedian at Hollywood’s Laugh Factory in 2006.
His screen credits include appearances in Heroes and Mind of Mencia, but live performance has remained central to his career. In 2010, he launched Exotic Imports, a tour featuring second-generation American comedians from different cultural backgrounds. The project gave his interest in identity and cultural connection a platform beyond his own stand-up sets.
His audience has since expanded through social media, where viewers can discover the improvisation that has become a signature of his shows. Amini became the first Iranian-American artist to headline Madison Square Garden, and his international appearances include London’s O2, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum and Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre.
With an early and a late show scheduled, fans have two opportunities to catch him at Dubai Opera.
