The acclaimed chef was behind FACT’s Restaurant of the Year in 2022 and 2023.
Ossiano in Atlantis, The Palm has made its mark in Dubai and across the world. It has won the highest accolades, from a MICHELIN Star to several FACT Dining Awards. Now, Chef Gregoire Berger, who was previously the head chef of Ossiano, is opening a new restaurant on Al Wasl Road in Dubai called Kraken.
The website for Kraken in Dubai is currently teasing guests. The video shows waves lapping back and forth, and the line “the deep calls.” The tag line is: “Unapologetic. Bold. Redefining the sea”, and implies that we can expect a seafood-driven menu with a difference.
Gregoire is on the lookout for a team to join him at Kraken. He is looking for a head chef and a pastry chef. On Instagram, he shared a post: “If you think fire is just for lighting your cigarette, keep scrolling. We’re seeking someone who truly masters fire – someone with scars, stories, and a fine dining background that wasn’t built on foam and theatrics BS. Kraken isn’t a playground. It’s a battlefield.”
Gregoire has won countless awards for his work and is one of the most innovative chefs in the region. In 2014, he joined Ossiano and put it on the culinary map. He featured in the top 100 in the Best Chef Awards, and was named Gault&Millau’s Chef of the Year.
Ossiano is famous for its seafood menu and sea-inspired location. Situated underground, it includes windows overlooking an aquarium with more than 65,000 marine animals. Look out for the sharks and stingrays, which pass you while you dine. The tasting menus draw inspiration from the sea.
