Reif Othman’s acclaimed TERO Chef’s Table returns

It has already become one of the most talked-about venues in town.

FACT’s editor-in-chief first met Reif Othman in 2017 for a cover story about The Experience by Reif Othman (TERO) for the first-ever print issue of FACT Dubai. Since then, the city’s first self-funded chef and restaurateur has gone from strength to strength, showcasing his culinary skills to the world, building a global restaurant empire that spans the MENA region from Cairo to Dubai.

While the original TERO in The H Hotel is long gone, the intimate kitchen bar is back and bigger than ever, offering a twelve-seat omakase experience in Dubai Hills Business Park. Gone are the apartment stylings of TERO’s previous guise, replaced with a modern aesthetic that sees Astro Boy skateboard decks, shelves of Supreme merch, and a retro Pac-Man arcade machine form an extension of Reif’s charismatic personality.

The private dining room isn’t what you would necessarily expect. A wooden table forms a U-shape in front of a preparation counter and open show kitchen, where a golden ceiling and maroon kitchen units match the aprons of TERO’s team of culinary maestros.

TERO

Accessed through a secret entrance inside the Reif Japanese Kushiyaki kitchen, TERO is an intimate and immersive dining experience that offers exceptional food and face time with FACT’s Chef of the Year 2022. Here, chef Reif creates a bespoke, eight or 12-course tasting menu based on the month’s culinary theme (for June, it will be unconventional Kaiseki), where diners can expect l Far-Eastern fare and an innovative twist on some of Reif’s signature dishes.

When not engaging his guests in witty banter, Reif works tirelessly assembling selected ingredients into immaculate plates of avant-garde cuisine. Caviar with cauliflower and bonito cream, langoustine with citrus butter, and Irish duck with apricot recently appeared on the TERO menu.

TERO

When it comes to unique dining experiences, Dubai offers everything from dining in an aquarium, in the dark or upon a helipad. Still, nothing can quite prepare diners for the culinary bravado on display at TERO.

TERO is open from Wednesday to Saturday, with seatings at 6pm and 9:30pm.
