FACT checks into the tranquil beachfront retreat in Ajman that proves a luxury stay doesn’t need a famous brand name to impress.
Al Zorah Beach Resort feels almost like an urban legend. Whisperings from friends and acquaintances have constantly championed the resort as not only the best hotel in Ajman, but perhaps one of the most underrated luxury stays in the UAE.
Formerly operating as The Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah, the property is currently entering an exciting new chapter as it prepares to become Four Seasons Resort Ajman at Al Zorah. Yet, in this transition period, the resort continues to operate and is already delivering the kind of experience you’d expect from one of the world’s most lavish hospitality names.
Away from chaotic city life, this pristine beachfront locale feels like one of the UAE’s best-kept secrets. Hidden amongst protected mangroves, turquoise waters, a sweeping sandy beach, and beautifully landscaped grounds, genuinely attentive service awaits those in the know.

Driving past natural mangroves and the verdant greens of Al Zorah Golf Club, we meander towards a destination that has eluded us for quite some time. While new development is taking place around the resort — largely residential — it feels carefully separated from the hotel experience, with the noise, dust and activity kept away from the property doors.
Weaving our way towards the ocean, we arrive at the gleaming glass cuboid structure of the resort. Rather than stopping in a traditional lobby for check-in, we’re escorted directly to our room, where it takes a moment to catch our breath and admire the beauty of the impressive architecture. Glass meets water in a seamless continuation of nature, creating a sense of calm from the very first moment.
It’s all very zen. Mesmerising architecture and a scenic setting unfold before us as we navigate the manicured grounds towards our chic weekend abode.
Lavish Living

Housed in structures that appear to float above pools of water, we’re hit with an instant sense of serenity before we even enter our room. With 74 rooms and suites alongside private pool villas, there’s something to suit every preference, whether you’re a couple looking for a romantic escape or a family searching for some fun in the sun.
We stay in one of the spacious ocean-view rooms, where natural materials and glass provide the impression of bringing the outside in. Unobstructed views of the manicured gardens and central swimming pool (reputed to be the longest in the UAE) are enhanced by the hotel’s bespoke scent that is both alluring and appealing.

Designed by Italian architect Piero Lissoni, the rooms boast private terraces, comfortable living areas, plush king beds and some of the most impressive bathrooms we’ve witnessed in a UAE resort. On one side, our room offers views across the property and towards Ajman city in the distance, while the opposite side opens towards the pool and ocean. The positioning means we’re treated to both sunrise and sunset views — a rare luxury that makes the room feel even more special.
Contemporary styling combines with subtle Arabic influences to reflect the location, while thoughtful details honour the property’s design heritage. The result is a chic yet unique retreat where Italian tile work, bold artwork and understated textiles add warmth to an otherwise luxurious approach to living.
Fabulous Fare

The dining options are just as impressive as the resort’s location. While the beachfront seafood restaurant is closed during the summer months due to the outdoor setting being less suited to the UAE heat and humidity, all our meals were enjoyed at Vinesse — and by the end of our stay, we joked that the team must have thought we had permanently moved in. Thankfully, there was no repetition fatigue. Every dish delivered, with every meal feeling carefully considered.
The fully à la carte breakfast at Vinesse is an absolute delight. Freshly baked viennoiseries arrive alongside a menu of eggs, breakfast specialities and Arabic favourites, all enjoyed with views stretching towards the Arabian Gulf. By day, the restaurant exudes refinement with high ceilings and understated tones. By night, the atmosphere transforms, with low lighting creating intimacy while the menu moves towards charcoal grills, pasta and fresh seafood.
One standout deserves special mention: the sticky toffee pudding. A warm Khudri date creation served with a rich toffee sauce, cake-like base and cooling ice cream, it became so addictive that we ordered it repeatedly throughout our stay, and even considered adding it to our breakfast order before deciding that might be taking things too far.
Astute Amenities

As you explore the resort, staggered stairways descend from the pool area, past a series of luxurious villas before arriving at the cooling waters of the Arabian Gulf. As the name suggests, the resort’s private beach offers one of the UAE’s most desirable patches of sand. Best of all, it feels like you could have it almost entirely to yourself.
Available for guest use only, the dramatic panorama of the natural beach is the most striking area of the hotel. Dotted with comfy sun loungers, you’ll easily fall in love with the crystal-clear water that glides against the shoreline as you take a quick nap or sunbathe under a beautiful blue sky – cloud nine or what?

The hotel fits effortlessly into its natural environment, promoting calmness and respect for its surroundings rather than disrupting the waterfront enclave. The 85-metre swimming pool remains the centrepiece, flanked by palm trees and cabanas. Elsewhere, guests can enjoy a fitness centre, library, spa facilities, kids club and wellness experiences.
For younger guests, the resort goes beyond simply offering a kids club. During our stay, our six-year-old guest was invited into the pastry kitchen for a hands-on baking experience, learning how to make muffins while seeing behind the scenes of the resort’s culinary operations.
There’s also little need to leave the comfortable confines of the resort, but should you choose to explore, the surrounding mangroves offer kayaking opportunities and are home to a wide variety of birdlife.

While the architecture and setting immediately impress, it is the hospitality that truly defines Al Zorah Beach Resort. The warmth, attention to detail and genuine care shown by the team ranks among some of the best service we’ve experienced in the UAE. Despite operating without the backing of a globally recognised luxury name, the staff delivers the kind of personalised hospitality usually associated with the biggest brands in the region.
Nothing feels like too much trouble. From remembering preferences to anticipating requests before they’re made, every interaction reinforces the feeling that guests are genuinely looked after. Discretion and privacy are key here, and Al Zorah Beach Resort is a place where guests can escape knowing they are in capable hands.
A New Chapter Ahead
Despite being a thoughtfully designed retreat, expansion is on the horizon. Additional enhancements and new facilities are planned as the resort moves towards its future as Four Seasons Resort Ajman at Al Zorah, including upgrades to accommodation, public spaces and wellness facilities.
Having opened its doors in 2016, the resort shows remarkably few signs of age. Nearly a decade later, its beguiling blend of contemporary architecture, wide open spaces and a natural palette that harmonises with panoramic ocean views continues to deliver everything expected from a luxury escape: privacy, seclusion and a one-of-a-kind stay.
While the arrival of Four Seasons will undoubtedly add another layer of prestige, there is something special about experiencing Al Zorah Beach Resort in this unique moment. Without relying on a famous name above the door, it has already proven itself as one of the UAE’s most exceptional beachfront retreats.
