Not every hotel opening in the UAE raises eyebrows and makes headlines worldwide. Then again, not every new hotel arrives by way of Sin City. The region’s first integrated gaming resort, Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, has confirmed its scheduled opening date for September 2027, marking the Las Vegas-based hotel and casino operator’s first foray into the region.
The opening was previously planned for the first quarter of 2027, before supply chain and shipping disruptions contributed to a delay. Wynn Resorts announced the revised timeline and opening date for Wynn Al Marjan Island alongside its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, revealing that the estimated construction cost has increased by US$600 million to approximately US$5.7 billion. “Wynn Al Marjan Island, the most exciting integrated resort to be developed in over a decade, will open its doors to guests in September 2027,” said Wynn Resorts chief executive Craig Billings.
The planned destination will feature a luxury hotel, world-class shopping, state-of-the-art meeting and convention facilities, a spa, dining destinations, extensive entertainment choices and a gaming area, amongst other amenities. And while the exact definition of ‘gaming’ remains to be seen, we know that the development is the first beach resort being developed by Wynn Resorts globally.
Accommodation will span 10 categories, including 1,217 resort rooms, 297 Wynn Enclave suites, two royal apartments, four garden townhomes and 10 stand-alone Marina Estates. Enclave will operate as a private hotel within the wider resort, complete with a separate entrance and dedicated facilities.
Wynn Al Marjan Island will house 22 restaurants, bars and lounges, with the first confirmed concepts including a French-American steakhouse from chef Alain Ducasse and the Middle East debut of Wynn Las Vegas supper club Delilah. The wider dining collection is set to cover Indo-Persian, Italian, Lebanese, Indian, Greek and Japanese cuisines, alongside a food hall, lobby bar and poolside venues.
Entertainment will be another major focus. British theatre company Punchdrunk is creating an original production for the resort’s 900-seat theatre. Inspired by classic Las Vegas shows, the performance will combine live music and dance with immersive storytelling. Guests will be able to watch from their seats or follow an alternative version of the story through backstage spaces. Elsewhere, the resort will feature 12 swimming pools, a beach club, a superyacht marina and 420 metres of private white-sand beach. A dedicated wellness floor will include a spa, fitness facilities, treatment suites, hammams, steam rooms, dry saunas and separate salons for men and women.
Incidentally, Al Marjan Island is already an established tourism destination, comprising over 7.8 kilometres of sparkling beaches and 23 kilometres of waterfront. The new resort will take over one of the four islands, which covers an area of almost 250,000 square metres, and while a specific opening day has yet to be revealed, the September 2027 date is now firmly on the calendar for Wynn Al Marjan Island.
