7EVENTY8 in Dubai: Step into Sumosan’s new nightlife spot

The bar is located in The Dubai EDITION Hotel.

Dubai’s Sumosan has announced an exciting expansion. The brand is opening a new nightlife venue, 7EVENTY8. The bar will be located in The Dubai EDITION Hotel, and opens on 25 January.  

Just like Sumosan, 7EVENTY8 will also draw inspiration from Japan. The name of the venue refers to the numbers seven and eight, which are auspicious in Japanese culture. The logo features a dragon motif, which is not only woven into the number eight but can be found as a mural on the bar’s ceiling. 

7EVENTY8 is a sultry spot. The venue boasts a rich colour palette with red velvets, deep greys and gold accents. The décor includes mirrored walls, little lamps and vases. Plus, there are Insta-worthy views of the Burj Khalifa. 

The drinks menu includes signature cocktails, which showcase a creative Japanese twist on classics. The Ode to Ueshima is a take on Espresso Martini; Shinjiro’s Way is a take on a white Negroni; and Roots of Sekiyawa is a take on an Old Fashion. Plus, Forbidden Shunga, Nozuchi’s Touch, and Togarashi Sense pay homage to Japanese culture and folklore.

7EVENTY8 brings together exciting entertainment. The soundtrack spans afro-house, fusion, and soul music, which sets the scene for drinking and dancing. 

7EVENTY8 team consists of Sumosan Founder and CEO Janina Wolkow, and Hisham Abou Khodor and Orsu Loviconi. Hisham previously worked at Chic Nonna, Coya Dubai, Galaxy Bar and Sushi Samba Dubai. Orsu Loviconi previously worked as a mixologist at the FACT award-winning Galaxy Bar Dubai. 

7EVENTY8 is open Thursday to Saturday from 10pm to 3am.
