Celebrate the viral toys in Dubai Festival City.
If you’ve been trying to get your hands on a Labubu, we have some exciting news. Mad Kicks and EL&N have collaborated on a Labubu pop-up. Located in Dubai Festival City Mall, it runs from 29 May to 9 June.
Labubus have become all the craze in the UAE. The spiky-toothed, wide-eyed toys are part of The Monsters series, created by Hong Kong-based illustrator Kasing Lung. Think Chucky from the Child’s Play series meets Snowball from The Secret Life of Pets. They’re equal parts creepy and cute – and have gone viral on social media.
Labubu dolls aren’t something you walk into a store and pick off the shelf. The dolls are produced by PopMart and sold in blind boxes, which means you won’t know which version you’ve scored until you tear it open.
With the Mad Kicks and EL&N collaboration, the café pays homage to Labubu. There are Labubu murals on the wall, Labubus in glass boxes like works of art, and Labubus adorning mirrors so that you can get that perfect selfie. Not only are there dolls but also cute cakes – we spotted pink and blue ones in the shape of those faces.
EL&N London opened its first café opened on Park Lane in London. Today, it can be found in more than 32 locations ranging from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh. Whether you go around the world, the cafés boast an Insta-worthy floral décor and a pretty pink aesthetic across its design and cakes.
