Check out the wonder in the heart of the mountains.
Hatta is one of the UAE’s natural beauties. If you’re after adventure, from camping to cycling, it offers it all amidst the mountain clouds. Now, it has announced Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls, and here’s how to enjoy this wonder.
At the heart of Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls is the waterfall itself. The feature includes a mural of the founding fathers of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The mosaic artwork includes more than one million pieces of natural marble.

The project uses the Al Ghabra Dam to create the natural waterfall. The water is collected, recycled and pumped back to the dam to create a sustainable infrastructure. Visitors will be able to climb to the top of the dam and admire the landscapes – 400-year-old olive trees, anyone? If you’re travelling with family, there is also a children’s play area.
Covering 750 square metres, the new investment opportunities include four restaurants, four retail stores, and six food and drink kiosks. The outlets will provide a range of experiences. The restaurants will serve Arabic, Emirati, and Western cuisine. In addition, the kiosks will feature souvenir shops and equipment rental services.
Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls is offering new investment and commercial opportunities. The aim is to empower local citizens and create job opportunities. Emiratis residing in Hatta will be able to utilise the retail space free of charge for one year. The venture offers a platform for small businesses to establish themselves.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), explained: “The project will offer a unique experience for tourists and showcase the beauty of the mountainous areas of the UAE. The water canal ends at a lake that forms a diverse biological ecosystem and promotes a balanced natural aquatic life. The location of the children’s play area was carefully chosen, as it intersects with the three oases designated for coffee shops and restaurants, allowing the children’s guardians to monitor them.”
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, added: “For the first time, investment and commercial opportunities are being introduced in the Hatta Dam area, specifically at the Sustainable Waterfalls. This is a significant step in strengthening the local economy and empowering Emirati entrepreneurs. The initiative creates a supportive business environment that generates unique job opportunities, fosters new projects, and enables productive families to expand their ventures.”
