This will mark the brand’s first property on the World Islands.

Dubai’s hospitality scene never stands still, and the World Islands continue to gather attention with a slate of new stays. The next arrival is InterContinental Dubai – The Heart of Europe, a resort that aims to bring five-star polish to this offshore destination while keeping the mood relaxed and escape-ready.

Scheduled to open in late 2027, the property will sit a short boat ride from the mainland. That proximity keeps city plans within reach, but the setting promises the switch-off of a true island break. The resort is designed by HWKN Architecture, and the first impression will be its signature “curtain”- mesh facade. Formed from Teflon-coated fibreglass, it is intended to move with the breeze, turning the exterior into a living artwork. A limestone-inspired finish channels the rustic elegance of old Italian coastal towns and takes clear cues from Mediterranean architecture.

Step inside, and the mood shifts to warm and grand. Towering stone columns, flowing drapes, and soft textures create an immediate sense of theatre, but the spaces keep a cosy, welcoming feel. The hotel will offer 466 keys across three wings named Bellissima, Dolce Vita, and Felicita. Each wing faces the sea, beach, or pools, so rooms are set up for sunrise coffees and sunset views. Interiors draw on the pastel palette of Portofino with layered neutrals and tactile finishes that echo Italy’s seaside villages. For longer stays, the Portofino Residences will deliver apartment-style living with full hotel service.

Dining takes centre stage with nine restaurants and bars across the site. The lineup will span refined evenings and easygoing lunches, with two standout venues exploring a creative Italian-Asian fusion. Guests can expect handmade pasta, fresh seafood, and an espresso culture that runs from morning through late night.

The resort leans into its family brief with the Kingdom of Portofino, a children’s club shaped by Montessori principles where little ones can play, learn, and create. La Donna, an exclusive ladies’ club and spa, will provide calm for dedicated downtime. Wellness is rounded out by a state-of-the-art gym and a spa featuring a Snow Room for contrast therapy. The lobby will host 514 aquariums for an immersive arrival, and outside, 700 meters of beach complete the island picture.

InterContinental Dubai – The Heart of Europe is targeting a late 2027 debut. With expressive design, thoughtful family facilities, and a culinary program rooted in Italian flair, it is positioned to redefine island hospitality in Dubai. When the doors open, this looks set to be a standout address for a close-to-home getaway.
