The event welcomes runners of all levels and ages.  


AlUla is home to world-class sights and vibrant festivals. It is now set to welcome the return of the AlUla Trail Race. Running from 22 to 23 January 2026, the event welcomes enthusiastic and established runners of all ages and all levels. So if you’d like to challenge yourself in the new year, here’s what you need to do.

The AlUla Trail Race takes place in a dramatic landscape of desert and palm trees. The tracks run through the depths of AlUla, from heritage sites to natural wonders. The tracks range from a 1.6-kilometre kids’ run to a 100-kilometre ultra-marathon.

The Sunset Run is three kilometres long and runs through the AlUla Oasis at sunset. The AlUla Oasis Run is 10-kilometres and travels through the AlUla landscape. The Elephant Rock Run is 23 kilometres long and takes in the spectacular elephant-shaped sight. AlMejdar is 50 kilometres away and gives participants the chance to compete against runners from around the world. Hegra Hundred is 100 kilometres, and the ultimate test of endurance.

Other festivals taking place in AlUla include the Ancient Kingdoms Festival from 20 November to 6 December 2025, Winter at Tantora from 15 December 2025 to 10 January 2026, and the AlUla Arts Festival from 15 January to 16 February 2026. AlUla Arts Festival has just been announced, and takes place across locations including Al Jadidah and Old Town. Now in its fifth year, the events include art exhibitions, dance and music performances from local as well as international artists.
