Dubai will host chef Ritu Dalmia’s next restaurant

Atrangi is expected to open its doors at Jumeirah Al Qasr next month.

Defying stereotypes in the restaurant industry, female chefs are now leading some of the world’s most dynamic kitchens — and we’re here for it. As for who’s on our radar circa now? Chef Ritu Dalmia, who has built a reputation for introducing Italian cuisine to India (Diva in Delhi), and Indian cuisine to Italy (Cittamani in Milan), serving as a culinary ambassador of sorts. She’s also celebrated for her catering vertical, Diva Catering, which has executed numerous turnkey events across the globe, collaborating with Michelin-starred restaurants and their chefs.

Now, Dalmia is set to take the city by storm as she prepares to open her inaugural restaurant in the Middle East, Atrangi. Located at Jumeirah Al Qasr, the concept is rooted in a unique twist on traditional cuisine, and will channel India’s many culinary traditions to present Indian cuisine in an authentic yet contemporary light. Atrangi promises to delight diners by showcasing Dalmia’s passion for showcasing lesser-known regional dishes.

Spanning over 5,275 square feet, the venue is an inviting space designed to portray Dalmia’s character and personality through creative creations and splashes of colour. Seating up to 96 guests, Atrangi will offer both an indoor dining experience as well as an expansive outdoor terrace overlooking the Jumeirah Al Qasr lagoons. Bonus: you can hop on an abra to or from the venue, only adding to its playful appeal.

Atrangi

“At Atrangi, we want to showcase the diverse and rich culinary traditions and techniques from all over India and the authenticity of each item on our menu,” said Dalmia. “From the far corners of the country to our busy city streets, we want to pay homage to our wonderful traditions. We aim to cater to all tastes and palates and to offer an experience that is truly enjoyable.” The menu at Atrangi takes inspiration from the many mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers who create their home-cooked meals with a little simplicity and a whole lot of love.

We’ll keep you posted on the menu and opening date as we receive more details.
