Fine dining Asian restaurant Tang is coming to Dubai

Located in Downtown Dubai, it will boast views of the Burj Khalifa.

Dubai, there’s a new Asian restaurant coming to town. The Cantonese meets Japanese concept Tang is opening in Downtown Dubai, and it will boast views of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountains. So, grab the chopsticks, as you’ll want to dig into this fine dining experience.

Tang can originally be found in Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa. The name refers to the Tang dynasty, which placed an importance on the senses, creativity and taste. Entrepreneur Nicky van der Walt is behind Miramar Collection, which includes Tang Sandton and Tang Waterfront.

Over the years, Tang has gained a loyal following and a reputation for its quality. In May 2023, it won International Restaurant of the Year at the Luxe Restaurant Awards. Plus, since opening, it has won multiple awards.

Now, Tang will be making its debut outside of South Africa. To announce its arrival, the brand shared a video of the Burj Khalifa complete with a countdown, fireworks and the restaurant’s logo. If the Cape Town venue is anything to go by, the Dubai venue will be a sophisticated spot. The Cape Town restaurant includes views of Table Mountain and offers an elegant experience.

Opening inside Palace Downtown, we’re hoping that the Dubai menu reflects the South African menu. Group Executive Chef Vixa Kalenga’s original menu draws its inspiration from contemporary Japanese cuisine and Hong Kong’s Cantonese food.

The restaurant offers a luxurious take on the Japanese izakaya experience. The team pride themselves on bringing together talented chefs and using high-quality ingredients. Plus, the cooking techniques include a robata grill for smoky flavours.
