Kumo is opening soon in Al Wasl Dubai.
Japanese cuisine and cuteness combine in the new restaurant, Kumo. Opening soon in Al Wasl Dubai, it prides itself on offering a fresh take on traditions. The concept has been created by the same team behind the UAE homegrown restaurants, Parkers, SALT and more.
The full details for Kumo and the menu for the new restaurant have not yet been unveiled. On Instagram, it currently states: “Tradition, turned up, grounded Japanese, made for the moment”.
Kumo in Dubai is easy to spot, thanks to its brightly lit sign. The steps lead to a discreet door, and inside is a sleek spot. The space boasts high ceilings and neutral tones, spanning beige, brown and white, which are punctuated by plenty of potted plants. Great for groups, there are round and square tables. While the menu hasn’t yet been revealed, we do know it will offer a modern take on Japanese cuisine. We’re hoping for sandos, skewers and sushi.
Kumo has been created by the Independent Food Co. The company prides itself on its range of concepts, which cover different cuisines. The restaurants also include Public, Shalwa and Somewhere. One of its most famous concepts is SALT, which was a social media sensation.
In 2014, SALT started life as a food truck. The business was launched by Emirati entrepreneur Amal Al Marri and Saudi entrepreneur Deem AlBassam. The company are famed for harnessing social media to create a buzz, and fans would have to find its next location online. Plus, it has expanded across the GCC and had a pop-up in the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
