Inside Dubai Mall Chinatown: Explore the shops, spa and street food

Grab your chopsticks – remarkable restaurants await.

There are Chinatowns across the world from San Francisco to London. Now, Dubai has opened its very own Dubai Mall Chinatown and – in true UAE-style – it aims to be the largest of its kind in the region.

Located on the first floor of Dubai Mall near Address Fountain Views, you’ll spot the lit-up lanterns, neon signs and panda statue. Dubai Mall Chinatown offers a modern take on traditional Chinatowns and is filled with cafés, restaurants, shops and a spa.

Cafés and restaurants

Dubai Mall Chinatown is home to multiple restaurants and bars, some of which are making their UAE debut. Many of the venues are located in the food hall and some are scattered throughout the mall.

The highlights include the Singaporean-style street food stall Hawker Chan, which was awarded a MICHELIN Star in 2016. The stall is currently open and is the brand’s first restaurant in the UAE. Plus, Ri Hua Xuan, which lays claim to inventing the xiaolongbao steamed bun, joins the mall.

The restaurants currently open include Golden Joy Express, Haidialo, Hawker Chan, Lanzhou Beef Noodle, KOI Thé, Nine Squares Restaurant and Sushi Joy Express. Oh, and there’s even a Chinese-styled Starbucks.

The upcoming restaurants include Bai Sui Wo Jia Suan Cai Yu, Dagu Rice Noodle, Family Dumping, Gao Xiao Shan Pie, Go Bou, Heyhong Bibimbap, Hong Kong Yuebei, Luckin Spring Chinese Pastry, Rihuaxuan, The Braised Shop and Zheng Dong Dan Dan Noodle.

Shops and spa

When Dragon Mart doesn’t suffice, put Dubai Mall Chinatown on your radar. The mall is expected to be filled with Chinese-inspired shops covering bakeries to beauty. So far, Dubai Mall Chinatown’s shops include the technology store Xiamoi and commercial gallery ftNFT. The upcoming shops include Hippo Box Supermarket, Mumuso and SuperCare pharmacy.

After all those restaurants and shops, schedule in some me-time. Yingyang Platinum Spa specialises in Chinese medicines and treatments. The spa already has branches in Al Safa, JBR – The Walk and The Village Mall, and this is its fourth branch.
