Celebrity chef Jason Atherton to open three new restaurants in Dubai

The restaurants will be located in Dubai Marina’s Grosvenor House.

After we recently said goodbye to Jason Atherton’s Marina Social in Dubai, we were hoping that it wouldn’t be long until the superstar chef returned. Now he’s back with not one but three new restaurants in the city, which will be opening in Dubai Marina’s Grosvenor House, A Luxury Collection Hotel.

The British chef’s new restaurants will be located on the 43rd, 44th and 45th floors of Grosvenor House in Dubai Marina. City Social Dubai is the first restaurant to open, and it will showcase Jason’s trademark contemporary and innovative approach to food. 

Seven Tales is a Japanese-inspired bar, which has a playful approach to mixed drinks. We anticipate that it will become a must-visit place for tipples ranging from cocktails to spirits. Lastly, a fine dining restaurant is set to open, although the name has not yet been confirmed. What we do know, however, is that it promises to be the most luxurious of the three venues and that it will serve a high-end tasting menu. 

Grosvenor House is home to a great line-up of restaurants and bars including Buddha Bar, Indego by Vineet, Rhodes W1, Siddharta Lounge by Buddha Bar and Toro Toro. Plus, Dubai Marina will be welcoming some cool new restaurants in the coming months, from the Hong Kong favourite Mott 32 to the rooftop bar Attiko. 

If Jason’s foodie record is anything to go by, the new restaurants should be on the MICHELIN inspector’s radar. Jason is the owner of three MICHELIN-starred restaurants, and his first solo project, Pollen Street Social in London, won a MICHELIN star within its first six months of opening. 

Plus, the chef is no stranger to the Middle East, as he opened two restaurants in Saudi Arabia: Maraya Social in AlUla in 2021, and Marina Social at Jeddah Yacht Club in 2022. Marina Social in Dubai opened in 2015, but it closed in the summer of 2022. So, while we don’t yet know the opening date for his new venture, we do know one thing – we’re excited about his return.
