Everything we know about the upcoming SO/ Uptown Dubai

Expected to open later this year, the hotel will mark the first foray of SO/ Hotels into the Middle East.

Guillaume Henry, Christian Lacroix, Kenzō Takada, Benny Castles — in a world where the luxury hotel market remains highly competitive, it’s collaborations with some of the biggest names in fashion that continues to set SO/ Hotels apart. The stylish collection of hotels made its debut on the global hotel scene back in 2011, and has since mastered the art of commanding attention with its avant-garde design and creative approach to luxury. And with properties in the likes of Berlin, Bangkok and Paris, it was only a matter of time until the Ennismore brand’s foray into the region — Dubai, to be exact.

SO/ Uptown Dubai

Expected to launch in the second half of 2023, the sleek SO/ Uptown Dubai will be located in DMCC’s up-and-coming Uptown Dubai district, complete with design-led rooms and statement suites, unique dining experiences, indulgent facilities, and striking views of the city skyline. Designed as a five-star urban resort, the property will connect with the wider fashion industry through partnerships and ongoing programming developed to support local talents. It will be located within Uptown Tower, a 340-metre-high architectural marvel designed by Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, the architects behind skyscrapers such as Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia and The Imperial in India.

The hotel will feature 188 luxurious rooms and spacious suites that will merge a fashion-forward outlook with indulgent elements to curate a sartorially inspired lifestyle. Details include marble bathrooms, rich fabrics, and dark wood finishes alongside high ceilings and innovative details, which elegantly come together to create naturally lit spaces that perfectly balance form, function, art and design.

SO/ Uptown Dubai is also expected to feature a complete range of premium dining and entertainment concepts that pay homage to the hotel’s fashion-forward DNA. From the effortless appeal of Uptown Brasserie and Asian fusion cuisine at The Citronelle Club to Celeste’s entertainment-led dining experiences and the laidback ambience of signature pool bar Lazuli, SO/ Uptown Dubai is set to be a culinary and entertainment hotspot.

Elsewhere, wellness facilities will offer the ideal interlude from city life by way of a pool, a state-of-the-art-gym, and The Spa by SO/ — the latter has been exclusively developed in partnership with Anne Semonin Paris to offer industry-leading spa treatments and therapies. A collection of 227 branded residences, meanwhile, will occupy the top 28 floors of the Uptown Tower, where residents will have exclusive access to an indoor pool, fully equipped gym, a kids’ club and creche, the Sky Lounge, and a private cinema.
