teamLab Borderless Jeddah brings art and innovation to Saudi Arabia

Experience the future of art at the Kingdom’s latest museum this summer.

Saudi Arabia is making strides in the world of sports, dining and entertainment. While this growth is one for the books, there’s also a constant effort to enhance the cultural landscape as well — especially one that acknowledges the Kingdom’s rich history. And that’s exactly why it has revealed plans to introduce a new museum called teamLab Borderless Jeddah.

Backed by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Art Collective teamLab, teamLab Borderless Jeddah will be set against the backdrop of Alarbaeen Lagoon. The museum will offer panoramic views of the Jeddah Historic District — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — that complement the immersive digital artworks within. The experience is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024.

teamLab Borderless Jeddah promises an art experience without boundaries. With over 80 experiential artworks made by teamLab using cutting-edge digital technology, the museum promises a journey into the realm of creativity and imagination.

Visitors are not just spectators, but active participants in a world where art knows no limits. As you wander, explore, and discover, you’ll not only get to see these fabulous pieces on display but also realise how they communicate with each other or influence one another, a truly engaging and intriguing experience. Think of a mix of Dubai’s Aya Universe and Arte Museum.

What’s inside?

With over 80 interconnected artworks to explore, guests will traverse several themed areas and interactive galleries. Borderless World exemplifies the idea that people comprehend the world through physical movement and interaction using artworks that escape traditional confines. The Athletics Forest is a creative and challenging space that uses interactive 3D environments to enhance spatial awareness and cognitive development, promoting a connection between the body and the mind. Future Park focuses on co-creative experiences where participants can collectively imagine and shape their surroundings. Forest of Lamps offers a mesmerising installation where visitors stand among countless glowing lanterns. The Tea House showcases the simple act of preparing tea, initiating the bloom of flowers within the teacups, resulting in a stunning floral display.
