Darth Vader is making his way to this year’s MEFCC

Hayden Christensen joins Andy Serkis, David Harbour, Matt Smith and May Calamawy at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Fans of fantasy and superheroes are in for a treat, as the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) has just added another celebrity to its star-studded lineup.

“I am your father” is one of the most memorable phrases in cinematic history, so the opportunity to encounter Darth Vader is not to be missed. MEFCC announced today that Hayden Christensen would join the panel of Star Wars luminaries at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 3 to 5 March 2023.

The Canadian actor and producer was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and made his acting debut at the age of 12, playing supporting roles in television series such as Family Passions, In The Mouth Of Madness, Goosebumps, Forever Knight and Are You Afraid Of The Dark. His breakthrough role came in Life As A House (2001) before going on to star in This Is Youth (2002) alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Paquin and Shattered Glass (2003).

Hayden’s career reached new heights when he landed the role of Anakin Skywalker (who eventually transforms into the villain Darth Vader) in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Fans can expect the ultimate meet and greet when Hayden participates in MEFCC’s A-list sessions for autographs and photo opportunities.

MEFCC is also welcoming another star from a galaxy far, far away. Anthony Daniels, the English actor renowned for bringing to life the neurotic golden droid C3PO, is also part of the star-studded lineup. With his presence in all nine Star Wars films, he has also featured in several of the franchise’s spin-offs. Most recently, reprising his role alongside Ewan Macgregor in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi, voicing his animated figure as the pilot in Disney’s ride, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, and even becoming a breakfast cereal, Kellogg’s C-3POs.

Other MEFCC activities to look forward to? An e-sports tournament at the newly established Gaming Arena as well as the work of local creators and international artists at the Artist Alley. Jeffrey’ CHAMBA’ Cruz (a Melbourne-based illustrator best known for his work on Mega Man and Street Fighter) will also join the lineup, as will Hirokatsu Kihara of Studio Ghibli.

Tickets are now on sale and include regular and limited-edition VIP packages. Individual passes start from AED 135 for a single day, and AED 299 for three days. VIP packages start from AED 700.
