Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s breakthrough show retells the final days of Jesus through the eyes of Judas. As Jesus’ influence grows, Judas becomes uneasy, fearing that his message is being lost in fame, politics and public hysteria. Tensions rise, and Judas ultimately betrays Jesus, leading to his arrest, trial and crucifixion. Signature songs include “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Gethsemane,” and “Heaven on Their Minds.” The show remains popular because it fuses biblical drama with electric guitars, choral power and raw emotional conflict, making it feel more like a concert-driven theatrical event than a conventional musical.
